Demand a fair asylum process for people fleeing torture

Each year, hundreds of people who have survived torture come to the UK in search of safety. Many have been beaten, locked up and raped in their home countries. All are fleeing horrific violence and abuse.

These men, women and children desperately deserve protection and a safe space to heal. Yet right now, many torture survivors are being wrongly denied asylum.

Our research shows that Home Office staff repeatedly reject expert medical evidence of torture and make unqualified judgements about survivors’ injuries.

This goes against both government guidance and international standards. And it leaves exceptionally vulnerable people at risk of being returned to face further torture.

You can help stop this happening. Ask your MP to raise it with Home Secretary Amber Rudd now.
